What adds to the human interest of this pony picture is the fact that Miss Carol Thomas of Granger, Indiana, found her brother in the war photo when it was published in Indiana newspapers. Pictured with her is Julius Ivancsics of the photo department of the Tribune. Friends of the family first noticed PFC Thomas in the wirephoto and the sister confirmed their identification with the help of Ivancsics. Thomas was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Thomas, Rt. 1, Granger, IN.
