Army Deaths in Korea
1970 through 1999

 

1981

March 15, 1981 -

  • Cude, Sgt. Vernon Jr., 21, Carrizo Springs, Texas.  While participating in Team Spirit in Korea, he and three other soldiers from Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 31st Mechanized Infantry, 2nd Infantry Division, drowned in the Namhan River.  They were 35 miles southeast of Seoul when the pontoon bridge they were crossing broke apart.

1985

May 10, 1985 -

  • US soldier died when the armored personnel carrier he was riding in fell off a pontoon bridge into the Imjim River.  Name not yet found.

1998

  • US soldier drowned when the armored personnel carrier he was riding in fell off a pontoon bridge on the Imjim River.  Name not yet found.  One of four U.S. soldiers & one KATUSA.
